Makes 1 Loaf



  • 1 cup regular rolled oats, plus additional
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ¾ can (12 fl oz) Out ‘n About Stout


Step 1 – Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan

Step 2 – Mix together the oats, flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl

Step 3 – In a separate large bowl, stir together the butter, vanilla, buttermilk, and Out ‘n About Stout

Step 4 – Pour the flour mixture into the beer mixture, and gently stir until well blended

Step 5 – Pour batter into the prepared baking pan, and sprinkle with additional oats if desired

Step 6 – Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, then turn the temperature down to 400 degrees F, and bake for an additional 30 minutes

Step 7 – Turn the oven off, open the door, and allow to cool for 30 minutes in the oven before turning out onto a wire rack
